About Bidsift
Minnesota collects detailed records on contractors. Every license issued by the Department of Labor and Industry. Every building permit filed with city offices. Every OSHA inspection. Every enforcement action from the Attorney General. All of it public. All of it paid for with tax dollars.
The problem is that none of it connects. DLI has their database. OSHA has theirs. The AG publishes enforcement actions in PDF press releases. Each city runs its own permit system. If you want to vet a contractor properly, you would need to check half a dozen sources that do not talk to each other. Most people do not know these sources exist. Almost no one has time to search them all.
We built Bidsift to fix that. We pulled 270,000 contractor licenses from DLI, 625,000 building permits from cities across the state, 122,000 OSHA inspection records, and over 1,100 enforcement actions. We indexed everything and made it searchable in one place.
This is public information. The state collected it. The state funded the systems that store it. The public paid for all of it. The public should be able to search it.
